Baystate Medical Center is currently undergoing renovations to become the Hospital of the Future (HoF) in Springfield. As part of this construction the existing roof space between the hospital wings will be transformed to an active outdoor space to provide walking paths, fitness spaces, play mounds for children, and space for fundraising events. Planting will provide low maintenance, year round interest while viewed from various patient rooms and spaces along the hospital wings. A hydronic snow melt system is proposed under pedestal pavers so that patients and staff can access the outdoor space easily year round.

The project is in construction documents and anticipates donor funding for completion.
